EGPA Citizen Participation Clinic to Address Potential Impacts of Citizen-to-Citizen (C2C) Networks on e-Government

Diogo Pereira,

The European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) is hosting a Citizen Participation Clinic on May 17, 2023, from 12:00 to 13:00 CET. The event will focus on the potential impacts of Citizen-to-Citizen (C2C) networks on e-government and feature a presentation by Prof. Mete Yildiz, a leading expert in digital government and public policy analysis.

The electronic interactions of citizens between each other enable them to contribute to digital transformation in the public domain and digital government. These C2C networks can add public value to current e-government services and support the development of new public services.

During this presentation, Prof. Yildiz will discuss the key benefits and potential risks of C2C networks, such as creating a new type of digital divide or threats to privacy, and their regulation by governments, based on examples from countries such as Netherlands and Russia.

Prof. Mete Yildiz, who is currently a senior research analyst at the United Nations University (UNU-EGOV) and a professor of public administration and policy at Hacettepe University in Turkiye, will present examples from countries such as Turkiye, Australia, Ghana, Chile, France, the US, Netherlands, and Russia. He will also discuss his extensive research on digital government and technology policies, which has been published in numerous articles and books.

Citizen Participation Clinic is an initiative of the EGPA Permanent Study Group VIII on Citizen Participation, co-chaired by Dr. Elke Loeffler (The Open University), Dr. Marlies Honingh (Radboud University), and Prof. Dr. Bram Verschuere (Universiteit Gent).
